About a month ago an alpha release for the GWT Developer Plugin for the Linux variant of Chrome was announced on the GWT issue tracker. Today was the first chance I had to try it and it works well albeit a little slow which the devs have explained in the comments.
John Tamplin from Google clearly explained, in the face of incessant annoying comments, the reasons why there was a delay in implementing the plugin and that it would most definitely be slower than on other browsers.
The only thing left that needs to be addressed is the little dialog box that appears when debugging your GWT application, complaining that the page is unresponsive. John had also explained that Chrome developers are unwilling to allow plugins to turn off this dialog so it looks like the solution here is just to move it off to the side while you do your debugging as clicking wait only makes the browser hit you again with another dialog later on.
